About
Mauricio Muñoz works with the visual cultures that shape desire and attention. Through painting, animation, performance, and installation, he constructs scenes informed by spectacle, consumption, and artifice. Oscillating between the fantastical and the everyday, his work draws on the visual languages of pop culture, television, advertising, and camp science fiction to examine how certain bodies, gestures, and fantasies become objects of desire.
Bio
He has presented solo exhibitions at LLANO (Mexico City), Best Practice (California), Centro Cultural Tijuana, and Biquini Wax EPS. His work has also been featured in group exhibitions at the ICA Maine, the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, and the San Diego Institute of Art. He has participated in residencies at Cobertizo (State of Mexico) and Déficit (Guadalajara).
