La Dancetería is a performance and site-specific installation that takes the form of a party. Presented at Biquini Wax, the work transforms the venue through a neon installation and a carefully constructed environment where music, social interaction, and performance become interconnected elements. Through the codes of nightlife and popular culture, Mauricio Muñoz creates a temporary space where bodies, images, and gestures come together as forms of expression and collective imagination.
Rather than functioning as a conventional performance, La Dancetería uses the format of a celebration as its artistic medium. The party becomes a space for transformation, where costumes, movement, and the presence of the artist introduce a playful exploration of identity, desire, and self-representation. Blurring the boundaries between exhibition, social gathering, and live action, the work creates a fleeting environment in which the audience is not only a spectator but also part of the evolving scene.
