La Dancetería, 2018
La Dancetería is a performance piece on the form of a party, where the artist dances on top of a light platform and invites other people to dance and perform in front of the public as a way to show and celebrate non-hegemonic bodies and identities. A second version of the work was performed at the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, where Muñoz danced on top of a steel sculpture by artist Richard Serra to confront the rigid hypermasculinity narratives underlying American minimalism and the post-war steel industry.
